Rory Bester is an art historian, ex-curator and co-convenor of the Zeitz-MOCAA-UWC Museum Fellowship Programme. He received his PhD in art history from Wits University, Johannesburg. Prior to joining UWC, he held academic, fellowship, visiting and associate positions at the University of Cape Town, University of Johannesburg, and Wits University. Bester has a teaching and research interest in the intersection of photographic and archival histories, notably the modes and methods through which photographic archives are activated in public; curatorial practice and its theoretical innovations for research, exhibitions, museums, and other public contexts; and understanding history’s creative making practices.
